We "Flip-Flop" for the Wildcats!

Aloha! Thursday was Hawaiian Day! Here we are by our flip flop banner for the Homecoming pep rally and football game (notice - we had to take a serious pic and a crazy pic :) Everyone got to help create the banner and we really had a lot of fun with it. Thursday night was the very first River Ridge parade and pep rally for fall Homecoming. Hope you had a chance to stop out and enjoy the festivities. Now, onto the big game!

Homecoming Highlights

Class T-Shirt Wednesday - Happy Homecoming Wildcats!

iPads are here!!!

Today we tried out our new iPad cart for the first time! The third graders were so excited to each have their very own iPad. We spent some time on the Pearson website (ask your child about the Grammar Jammers!) Thanks to Mr. Nicholas for showing us the ropes. Stay tuned for updates on new aps and projects as we continue to explore this incredible new technology!

Furry Show-n-Tell!

One of the coupons that third graders can buy with their behavior points is show-n-tell. Anna's mom brought in her adorable baby kittens to share with our class this week. The class loved them and we are sure they can come back anytime to visit. Thanks Anna and Mrs. Scott for sharing your cute kittens! PS from the Scott family: Free kittens available to a good home!

Gone fishing!

This week the third graders went ice fishing! After reading our tall tale this week, "Kumak's Fish", about a village that worked together to catch a BIG fish, the third graders also tried their hand at fishing. And, just like in the story, there wasn't one big fish under the ice, but a bunch of smaller fish holding on to each other! The theme of our story reminded us of the importance of working together to reach our goals. Thanks so much to Mrs. Conklin for sharing this fun activity with our class!

On the road to cursive!

Wow, our first full week has flown by! One of the exciting things that third graders get to learn is cursive! Even though we first review manuscript letters, the students were very thrilled this week to begin writing in their cursive books. Their penmanship is awesome, and we'll have cursive conquered before we know it!
