Read the Most from Coast to Coast!
Today was a fun day at River Ridge Elementary! We all were participating in the Accelerated Reader "Read the Most from Coast to Coast" challenge in which students across the country try to beat last year's one-day record of AR tests taken. We also dressed as our favorite book characters, read to the kindergartners, checked out the book fair, enjoyed a "Read and Feed", and read, read, read!!!! (We even managed to do some math and a writing project, too.) Mrs. Reese's class challenged us to take 100 AR tests today, and we beat the challenge by taking 117 tests! Way to go 3S! Don't forget, third graders, 3rd quarter AR goals will be due soon!

CONGRATULATIONS JACK MIDDENDORF!!!
A Great Big CONGRATS goes out to Jack Middendorf, who, today, became the first third grader EVER to pass out of all levels of Xtra Math!!!!. That means he can answer ALL math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) in under 1.5 seconds each!! Way to go, Jack! We are very proud of you!
Newsworthy!!
Check this out... our third grade classes were featured in last week's Galena Gazette! We were acknowledged for our Christmas collection for Operation Shoebox. We also received a nice thank you from the founder of Operation Shoebox, Mary Harper. Way to go, third graders!
