After reading about the Statue of Liberty in language arts, the third graders have been researching it and other American symbols in social studies. Working with partners, the third graders have researched Mt. Rushmore, the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Allegiance, the White House, Ellis Island, the American flag, the Washington Monument, the bald eagle, and of course, the Statue of Liberty. Then they created posters showcasing their research. On Friday afternoon, we held a Gallery Walk with Mrs. Reese's class so that all of the students could share and explore all of these important symbols.
